When to use
For light lures, long casts, and beginners — there is almost no risk of backlash. Also good for finesse techniques and smaller fish.

Reading reel sizes
Numbers like 1000, 2500, or 4000 indicate reel size: the bigger the number, the bigger the spool and line capacity. For freshwater casting, small to mid sizes are most common.

Choosing one
Look at reel weight, smoothness, and drag. HG or XG variants retrieve line faster. On most spinning reels, the handle can be switched to the left or right.
